Has anyone actually used these on large game from a handgun? Im skeptical that at the slower velocities of a handgun these will not have the advertised effect. Im looking at the 420gr load in 500 S&W for reference which on paper will be around 1600 fps. Shots will obviously be under 75 yards.

A 420gr, .50 cal, all copper bullet will likely penetrate very deeply as shown on their videos.

Lehigh load data suggests they'll be starting in the range of 1000-1400fps at chronograph distance.

Will it disrupt enough tissue for a quick kill on an Elk or Bear shot through the ribs?

I'd give Lehigh a call with a more specific question about that bullet for hunting to see what they recommend.

The bullet is already 1/2" in diameter, it will certainly be effective if you put it in the vitals
