I've had this 224 valkrie for awhile and it fired flawlessly and today it acted up twice out of 20 rounds fired. It tries to feed 2 live rounds. My ejected rounds land at about 4 o'clock. Can someone give me a clue as to what to check?

Were the double feeds among the first rounds fired out of the magazine? If so I'd try a different magazine.

Just a guess, really.

My first guess would be a magazine problem Danny, especially if the 10 round magazine is a conversion from a normal capacity magazine. Is it always the same two out of the magazine? I had something similar going on with a 10 round Glock 20 magazine. This was back during one of the "transition" periods when normal capacity mags were being banned and some manufacturers (like Glock) were shipping guns with one pre-ban and one converted mag. My Glock started acting up and I couldn't figure it out. Then one day my son was with me and when I said something about it he said, "It's your magazine. I've been watching, it's always with the 10 round magazine and it's always the (same round in sequence.) I quit using that mag and that particular Glock has run like a Glock ever since.

In my prior life as a Soldier of 31 years with the M-16 series rifles, it's almost always the magazine or lack of lube (for some reason Soldiers never lubed their rifles IAW the -10). on rifle ranges I started crushing magazines that were malfunctioning so they could not be used again, I got tired of seeing the same malfunctions at every range.

Don't know diddle about new AR platforms, but back in the day I loaded a 20 or 30 round mag, slapped the backside against the palm of my hand and put in the ammo bag. I did lube the gun with LSA every few weeks, and rinsed it out with JP4 a couple times. 30-40 K rounds later it was missing about 1/3 of the rifling, but still had not jammed, or double fed.

I cleaned it before turning it in. grin

Tour 2 saw a similar experience with 3 CAR-15 guns.

For those unfamiliar with the CAR, they look a lot like modern toys.
