General knowledge and well read would be my Dad. Same for me. My dad was always a sharp guy. Extremely well read. And great common sense and the ability to size up people. He worked intelligence in the army during the early days of the Cold War and was recruited by OSS when he got out. He declined. He loved farming and returned to the farm after his discharge.
Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.

Friend of mine is a urologist and a damn good one. Surgeon. Got bored being a pharmacist so he went to med school. Plays the guitar just shy of professional. Has a little spread with a few horses and he’s handy as hell. Hunts a bit. Smart and humble.

Fellow who grew up on a farm near me. About 5 years older than me.
Would have been a brilliant engineer, or project manager, or construction supervisor. But he just wanted to farm and work part time as a machinist. Didn't have any ambition to do more than that, and was super humble. Good guy, has led a happy, simple (by modern standards) life.
I've often wondered how many potential Isaac Newtons, Leonardo DaVincis, or Albert Einsteins spent their entire lives behind an ox pulling a plow....

I was thankful to be considered (at least by me!) to be a "friend" of Oil Well Firefighter Red Adair for a time during his later years. Pretty much brilliant in his field - and not too much else he couldn't do. Hell of a nice gentleman, also!
