I had Billy Goat Gruff make a couple of knives for me. I wanted them to be matching knives. One for me and one for my son for his graduation from University of Wyoming. I wanted a rustic look with the forge marks left in it. He ha some mesquite to use for the grips scales.
WOW, was I ever pleased with the results. He nailed the look I was looking for. My son absolutely loves his as well and they are sharp as anything.
So obviously, when I picked them up, we got talking knives and he showed me a skinner he had just finished made from a farriers rasp. Well, there goes more of my money, I just had to have that one as well. Love the look and how it feels in the hand. Hope to give it a good workout this winter during trapping season.
Top one is my sons. Middle is mine, bottom is the skinner I just had to take home with me.
The mesquite knots almost look like faces in the wood. And even the grips kind of match with location of the knots
