I met him once while I was working security during college. Extremely nice man and a great story teller!
When he walked up to me at the door he said “whoa boy, you’re built like a Georgia mule!” It made me smile.

I had the good fortune to watch Jerry tell some stories in the Delta Crown Room in the Atlanta airport. Jerry said he couldn't, his agent would have a fit, but after enough guys said just one story...Jerry relented and talked nonstop for about 45-minutes. He had to quit when his flight was boarding.
It was about thirty rears ago and I remember it like it was yesterday!

Yep, the fertilizer salesman from Yazoo City, Mississippi turned full time story teller. He was unashamed Christian and a spokesperson for our state. A good family name. The writer Willie Morris was also from Yazoo City. Remember he wrote My Dog Skip, made into a great family movie. My grandkids loved it.

Had a good friend from Arkansas that could spin yarns just like him. One time he revealed that he and Clower were college roommates. He said that he taught Jerry everything he knew....
One of my favorite stories was about the college game when they played Auburn and his attempt to tackle Travis Tidwell.

Well, if you call him Jerry Clower in Mississippi or Lower Alabama folks won’t know who you’re talking about. It’s “Jeh Clau” down South.

Brings back memories..
Growing we’d go to my grannies for Sunday dinner ( lunch).
She had one of the great big console record players. It was furniture size.
She’d play Jerry Clower records while we sat around and visited.

My dad bought me an autobiography about Jerry's life. The title is, Ain't God Good.
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong. Getting into reloading to save money is like getting married for free sex.
