I drew a Wyoming region W (South Central Wyoming) with the severe winter, estimates are 70-80% mule deer winter kill, will I even see a Mule deer during the season?

They're not all dead but you'll be hunting for a good buck.
Have you talked with the biologist? Mature bucks should have faired better than the youngsters for sure.

wytex, I'll be scouting this summer in the area for sure, and perhaps contacting a biologist for advice if things look as poor as the forcast is reported. I certainly hope there is a few good bucks that survived the winter

Best of luck to you! I've decided to give Wyoming a rest for a few years, and continue to build points in the mean time....a gamble, I know.
My heart's in the mountains, my heart is not here. My heart's in the mountains, chasing the deer.

From what information I've been watching and reading, it sounds like the F&G biologists are still assessing the damage from the harsh winter themselves.

Whatever you find should have nice antlers this year, we are green as ever right now and animals are looking good. No doubt a few mature bucks made it.
Bring that fishing rod for your summer scouting trip.

Don't listen to him. What zone? Lighten up Francis, it's called a joke. Ps they are "areas"...and he drew a "region" tag, which means he can hunt in the general "areas" within that specific "region".....thus endth the lesson...

My guess is he drew the tag with a particular ‘area’ in mind to hunt, genius. Lighten up Francis, it's called a joke.

Anything remotely physical is tough for you these days. Going to be tough sledding in that part of the state.

Hard to go to Wyoming and not see a deer, but it might not be a big one.

I am headed to the north central part of the state. Deer are in tough shape down here. Baggs has a 5 day three pts or better. That's one of the best in the state.

Not sure how many deer you will see. The Red Desert is winter range and the area around Superior was hit pretty hard but not for as long as the northwestern part of Wyoming. As for fishing the Green river and Fontanelle reservoir have done well for me many times.

I remember driving through Saratoga and Encampment in early Feb to ski in Colorado and the snow then was insane. There were more storms yet to come as well. That early April storm was nuts. I wouldn’t be shocked to find out the Sierras lost as many as the Red Desert and Wy range. I’m sure the northern CO wolves had a banner winter.
