I have a Bell&Carlson medalist stock with a standard textured black finish that i want to jazz up.

Plan to use spray can technique......spider webbing some gray (maybe red) over the existing black.....then sealing with a matte uv resistant krylon.

After removing all the metal, any special prep work required other than wiping down with alcohol....any light sanding required? I plan to mask off the recoil pad and portions of the action/barrel channel.

Where should i be looking for spider web spray paint?

I found the black and the gold Krylon spider web (aka "Marbelizing") spray paints at Michaels.

I lightly sanded my stock, then wiped with alcohol, before spraying the base coat. Finished mine up with several light clear coats of Brownell's Aluma-Hyde.

It has been two years. Holding up really well. YMMV.

Rabst has the right method - instead of Aluma-Hyde, I use Acra-Kote but both are epoxy based and much tougher than any paint type alone.

Recoil pad won't unscrew?

Have not been able to find screw access on the recoil pad.....its a B&C original stock winchester used on the first extreme weathers when they first came out....

But my pad doest show any void where screws are usually accessed.

A can of automotive adhesion promoter seems to really help. I didn't want to sand plastic. The adhesion promoter made a world of difference.

Im inclined to agree as i intend to let the factory black be part of the scheme......

What product and where would i find that?

I painted a stock with Dura coat 10 years ago.
After many days in the field, it still looks like the day I painted it.

I've done a bunch of stocks for members here and friends, a few with Krylon but most with Duracoat. Lightly sand with red scotch-brite to give paint something to bite into. Wipe with alcohol then I use Dupli-color adhesion promoter on polymer stocks. Paint it.
