YOUR LEAST EXPENSIVE OPTION IS TO FIND A USED NO. 1B in 30-06 and send it to JES for a rebore. I just bought one for $800.

I've got a #1S in 35W, but sorry, it's not for sale. My son found it at a gun show a few years ago and it was new in the box. It was some Mom & Pop gun shop. They must have ordered it in for someone and the deal fell through. That's the only thing that I can think of. It shoots great by the way.

I've found the Browning Model 1885 rifles to be extremely accurate, and with their 28" barrels, they can "magnumize" the caliber they're chambered in with the right handloads..

Is that a 1S or 1A? I thought the 1S had heavier barrels but not sure. Just curious.
