We’re headed up for a few days over the Fourth of July holiday, any suggestions on things to do and places to eat? Fishing advice appreciated too. Thanks
Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
I haven't been down there recently but if it's like most of Colorado, the water levels on most streams are too high for good fishing. We had a really good snow pack, and then a lot of snow late in Spring, and then lots of rain so it's not a typical year. I tried to fish the Colorado this past weekend and drove by a couple tributaries but there was jut too much water.
So your best bet may be lakes or tail waters if they're not releasing buttloads of water. Most are.
My son lives in Durango, they have been floating the Cortez, San Juan, Green, and the Colo, he say's it's the best rafting he has seen in years, you might look at a float trip. Rio7

That’s definitely something to check into

Fishing below San Juan dam. Truly educated fish, and folks come from all over the world for the experience. Heard 5 different languages in my first half hour there.
Lakes should be full and cold water. Panther Martin spinners work well, fly below a bubble or even fly fish from the shore. Wading out a bit helps sometimes too. Creeks here are starting to get some moss so that may be an issue if water comes down on bit in them down there.
Didn't know there was anything to do there but pay big money to soak in the hot springs all day. It was actually entertaining. Weak drinks and funny characters from Arizona kept us amused. Some colorful pool ornaments walking back and forth perfectly satisfied with the attention. God bless 'em...

We like the Mexican place right on the riverbend across from the hot springs lodge.
