A Bridge Too Far is my favorite, mainly because I first saw it while going thru Jump School. The producers went out of their way to get cast members who actually LOOKED like the actual people they were portraying, which was a nice touch.
Monty should have been sacked after that debacle.

So many AWESOME ones to choose from, but I agree with earlybrd, Saving Private Ryan is hard to beat. It’s also hard to watch. P
Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

Empire of the Sun is a good one that gets overlooked a lot.

Attack, staring Jack Palance and Eddie Albert. (They both were combat veterans of W II.)
It is an excellent movie.

Nothing tops saving private Ryan I saw it in a movie theater in Eagle River Alaska with my friend and his wife. When it ended, every person in the theatre was silent or sobbing. It was outstanding, I'll never forget it.

"The Story of G.I.Joe", starring Robert Mitchum, and Burgess Meredith as Ernie Pyle. Oldie but goodie.

Sands of Iwo Jima was, I think, 1964. You’re thinking of Flags of Our Fathers. I was a little disappointed in the list. I love The Dirty Dozen, but I like movies that do their best to get the history right. Maybe we need a line between action movies set in a war, and movies that are actually about a war. A Bridge Too Far, The Longest Day, Midway (‘76), Tora Tora Tora, and many more that I’ll think of later. One I wanna see, but ain’t had the chance yet, is Men of Valor, about the USS Indianapolis. Defiance, with Daniel Craig is another. It’s about the Jews and the people in Belarus, caught between Hitler on one side and Stalin on the other. As much as I love Casablanca, it doesn’t belong on the list, and neither does The Dirty Dozen. Band of Brothers can’t be beat. If you follow the history, the story writes itself. 7mm

Sands of Iwo Jima came out in 1949. Jim mentioned The WorldAt War documentary narrated by Laurence Olivier, it's outstanding.

I always enjoy watching "The Bridge at Remagen". It's one of those movies that if I see its on while flipping the channels I need to watch it.

👍👍didn’t Clint Eastwood direct that No....before his time as a director. Eastwood directed "Letters from Iwo Jima", a Japanese perspective counterpart to "Flags of Our Fathers"

Bridge over the River Kwai will have me whistling the tune for the rest of the day. 😀
First couple of times I watched Saving Private Ryan I don’t think I closed my mouth until it was halfway through….I was immersed in it. It’s a great movie. I was disappointed with the Thin Red Line. Enemy at the Gates was good.
Hacksaw Ridge and Midway are great movies.
