Glen rock is excellent as well. I’d call both and pick the one that you like best after chatting with them.

Right now, at least as of February, FORDs has a 6 months turn around time.....

CraftGuard has been in business for over 40 years. I've sent over twenty-five long guns to them in the past 30 years and always satisfied with the results (mostly hot-bluing) usually done and shipped back within 10-days. Cost of service was always fairly low.

I've had good work done by CraftGuard in the past but this last rifle was a disaster. Took longer than the previous guns i'd sent in, splotches that didn't blue, she didn't rinse the salts off properly, didn't engine turn the bolt body as requested, and overall, the bluing looks thin.

She lost a customer.

Soon as we get back from Namibia I'm going to talk to Glenrock about redoing her mess.

McCray, I'm not one to criticize but your experience begs the questions: (1) Did you follow up with CraftGuard with your complaint, and (2) What did they do (or offer to do) to make it right? There is absolutely no individual or industrial process that's truly fault-free, so what's just as important is what someone does to mitigate their mistakes. In all my years of using them, I honestly never had any issue with their work, not did anyone of my professional associates/acquaintances who also used their services. Not in discounting your experience in any way, it's just that yours is the first negative that I had heard of.
