Been looking at some of the specs on 28 gauge and TSS ammo. Starting to look for a shotgun. Anyone have experience hunting with round ? If so are there any out there that you recommend? Chokes as well.

No turkeys, but I have a little 870 28ga. That is a sweetheart. I have killed lots of upland birds, but never a turkey. Very few in my country. It is one of my favorite shotguns,

I love 870s, got a couple and had several others. Just hard to find one in a 28 gauge.

Been considering one myself. Do some reading on Gobbler Nation and OldGobbler. There are 28s out there that throw patterns every bit as good as 20s with TSS. I’m not a mossberg fan but there are lots of pattern pictures from their 28ga that are impressive
It’s much closer to a 20 than it is a 410

Lot'sa folks been killing turkeys with a .410. The biggest thing is learning the effective range of your shotgun and working birds into that range. Many folks are going with that TSS and other heavy weight shot. I still use plain Jane lead. Pull 'em in close! Kill 'em "dead with lead"!

I used a Franchi AL48 auto and a Yildiz O/U. Both worked great with a factory full choke with TSS 9 1/2 shot

If you want to get into a 28 gauge, now's the time. Ammo seems plentiful. I went to Green Top Hunt & Fish and Bass Pro in Richmond yesterday and their shelves are stocked with 28 gauge ammo. Everything from #8 to #4, target and field loads. (BTW, .410 has made a comeback, too.) If you're willing to pay the price, you can order Federal Custom loads of TSS with shot as small as #10 https://www.federalpremium.com/custom-shop/custom-shotshell/11-FCST28275.html

LGS by me has a really nice Browning BPS 28ga on the rack, kinda tempting....

My son filled a turkey with my Browning BPS 28ga. I ordered a x-full Briley choke and I had a box of Bismuth #5's. Came in running to the decoy and BANG - DRT at 20 yards. This was a few years ago as TSS was entering the scene. I haven't seen any factory 28ga TSS. He also took a turkey with the BPS 410, but that was with a Jebs and TSS.

I do love a 28 and have owned a few and still got a few. That said, I am happy with my 20 gauges and really don't want to have to set up another gun.
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Same. I've been toying with the idea of a .410 or 28 for some time. I see no need to go smaller than 20.

It's not a bad price on the BPS either, I just don't have anything 28ga anymore. Not much left in 12ga either...

Looking at what William from sumtoy has posted with there testing, looks like the perfect solution for reducing gun weight without sacrificing effectivness.

The BPS 28ga is still at the gunstore I frequent. As new, 26" barrel, 3 choke tubes, wrench... $600 out the door. I forgot to see what the barrel states for shells with the advent of the new 3" shells. Nice looking shotgun...

The Browning will be 2 3/4” which is no problem at all. There are only a few 3” shells out there. I have not needed any more than the 2 3/4” anyway. I do need a BPS though so if you aren’t going to buy it feel free to PM me the store info😎
