BTDT for real. Well, without the helo. Manning an outpost on the Iraq - Iran border and some guy rambles through with a few cows and goats. Somehow one of his cows manages to get separated. So we hang on to her for a few days and get as much grass and water to keep her alive until the farmer comes back to get her. After a week we said screw it. A 5.56 to the back of the head and our company had grilled steak for 3 days. Company 1st Sgt scrounged up some potatoes and bbq sauce and we felt like kings.

We called it "Living off the land - from the air." Cambodia has some big red deer. Our mess hall occasionally had water buffalo, and monkey noodle soup was a regular offering.
