Find a local passport office. Show proof of future international travel. Pay expediting fee. Get passport in less than 24hrs.

A friend of mine is in a pickle. He did just that and the wait times are 6 weeks.

Try to renew your driver’s license. With all the increased interest in “Real ID” you can’t get your DL renewed without an appointment months in advance… It may be the one thing NJ .gov bureacracy has bureaucracy has improved upon. DMV was a morasse of wait for hours or days, then "nope". Insane lines and wasted time. Now, with the revamped MVC, you have to register for a time slot online or you cant get in. Once you do get in (appointment maybe a week or 3 out) Its a snap and you are out in no time. One positive advancement out of 4,000,000.
Quit giving in inch by inch then looking back to lament the mile behind ya and wonder how to preserve those few feet left in front of ya. They'll never stop until they're stopped. That's a fact.

I renewed my DL online here in Texas.
Jim If you're switching from the old format Driver's License to the new REAL ID-compliant version, you must do that in person. Once that is done, you can renew online in minutes.

Renewed my DL last year, MS can do it every 8 yrs…
Took about 30 mins…
25 of that was the “take a number, wait 6’ apart” protocol BS…
Funny thing, it was only me and another person getting DL…. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Renewed CCW last month, have to goto main HWY Patrol office.
Surprisingly, took about 10 mins.. woulda took less but the digital fingerprints were contrary..

With all the increased interest in “Real ID” you can’t get your DL renewed without an appointment months in advance… Rural Missouri, walk into license office, take your picture, do the minimal paperwork, walk out with 'temporary' license. 10 minutes when I did it last year. In a week they mail you the license.

Thanks for the reminder. The boy's passport just expired and because he turned 18, he now has to apply for a "new passport".
Going to expedite as much as possible so he can go to canada with me next month

A friend of mine is in a pickle. He did just that and the wait times are 6 weeks. If you go to an actual state department passport agency with an itinerary showing international flight within 2 weeks, they can get it done same-day or next-day. I just did it. The only trick is you have to live close to one or be willing to travel to get to it.

I just renewed my DL with one with Real ID, completed initial online application in less than 5 minutes... they then gave me an appointment for 10am two days later. I showed up a little early, checked in and when called gave them my paperwork, took vision test, and the (I guess) new electronic written test, took photo, paid fee and was out before noon. Not so easy to get Veterans stamp on license, that requires going through VA red tape, the mail, and in person visit to VA office, and then back to DMV in person again.

Go online, click renew, pay fee and done. Every 10th year have to go in for new pic and vision test. Real ID was automatically done (10 years ago) due to CC license being tied to DL. Easy peasy
