That dog wasn't a threat. Shot him again as it's running away. Cop should lose his job at a minimum.

Ridiculous. While there are certainly dangerous and aggressive dogs out there, they aren't very common. With a little common sense and patience dogs can be easily handled. I've been in this business for 22 years; I have never once needed to shoot a dog to protect myself.

Very, very sad, only a coward would shoot a dog that was not attacking him and even if the dog attacked he has a baton to fend him off. I observed over the years that quality of police officers has considerably deteriorated. In the old days they didn't get as much training but they were men who were naturally brave and had common sense. Today as long as a person fits someone's ideological criteria they are hired.

I see a promotion in his future.

Gutless coward. I don't trust the shoot first pigs we have for cops these days.

In most states you’re gonna spend the better part of your life in the clink for shooting a K-9 dog, soooo…..

Back about 20 years ago, Cookeville city pulled over a family on I-40 because the car match the description on one involved in a robbery. Family (including kids)was forced out of the car and put face down on the pavement while the cops shot the family dog because he was barking at them (no [bleep]).

The city of Cookeville settled for an “undisclosed” amount (I hope it was a lot). Never did hear about any cops getting canned.

I know several folks in LE. Have some in the family. I’ve nothing against LE, but I don’t hold them in any automatic high regard either. Just like any other group of people or profession, about half of them are dumbasses that shouldn’t even be there (same as farmers, teachers, salesmen, etc.).

This is probably one of the worst things I seen in a long time. I've got a yellow lab and he's my best friend. Absolutely horrible.

Not only did he shoot the dog, but the azzhole shot it again as it was laying in the street. How could you do that to a lab that just wanted to say hi. I would have been locked up if it was my dog.

Devil’s Advocate Disclaimer……

Labs are ranked 9th in fatal attacks on humans. Probably from stepping on shotgun triggers in a duck blind, but 9th nonetheless.

Man...that guy would be a shoo-in for an ATF agent.. They would love to see that on an application.
