Everytime I pick up a Tikka, I'm reminded just how easy they are to work with. Came across the hunter stainless model and decided I could use another .243. Picked it up a few days ago and mounted a 3-15 Tract Toric last night and headed to the range this am. Was not aware that they were now twisting them 1/8. That was a nice surprise. After getting it on paper with 100g soft point Winchester factory loads I proceeded to shoot some handloads through it. Here are the first couple of groups with the 87g Hornady BTHP and 4831. Sure doesn't seem like it's gonna be fussy.

That's great!
I don't think I could pass up one in 243 if it were twisted 1 in 8

bsa1917hunter picts in 3,2,1....... Tikkas are good schidt man. I thought everyone knew that. It’s really when I find a Winchester model 70 that shoots as well, that I get excited. A good tikka punches 1 fn hole
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Dang...still didn't get a good one.
No sense in trying for 10 shot groups then.

I was a remington man for a long time and still own a few too many. Which I plan on fixing. I have one tikka which shot just fine but I got a "looney" idea and pulled the barrel on and screwed another barrel onto myself. With hand tools. Cked with go and nogo, went to the range and shot MOA or less groups with right off the bat. With 3 different bullets. Count me impressed with the ability for a jack leg to accomplish that. If it wasn't for the process Tikka uses to build rifles I couldn't have done that.

It has a factory 1:8 tube? Tikka is usually pretty slothful about updating their twist rates, and they still show 1:10 on the website. You'd have a hard time giving me another 1:10 .243, but I don't think I could pass up a properly twisted Tikka in .243 , or especially 7mm-08 or 7mm Mag. Maybe the 7mms will get the updated twist treatment next.

It's listed as 1/10 on eurooptic, but it seems to be 1/8. Unless these 8s mean something else. temporary image upload

Pretty nice. Kinda late in the game for me, but if I ever happen to have one of those famous boating accidents I hear so much about, one of those might be the easy button for my declining years.
Like the SS/walnut combo too. Have had a few, two I cobbled up myself, and think it’s a good look and practical, as long as the metal isn’t too shiny.
I used H4831 in some of the loads I sent along when I gave my last .243 to some descendants. Was pleasantly surprised at how well it shot. Not often mentioned IME, but the groups were nice and fell right in with the other loads using H4350 and another bullet.
What fresh Hell is this?

bsa1917hunter picts in 3,2,1....... I was thinking if not BSA, Pharm with 7-08 pics…. LoL! On serious note, Love the pics and helpful knowledge
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Tikkas are boring........one reason I love 'em. Between myself, son, nephew, and buds that had to have one after I started shooting them I've helped sight in, scope, and shoot about 20 of them dating back to 1998. Mr MaGoo could shoot sub MOA with those rigs.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

For someone who does not own any Tikkas (yet), any particular model(s) you would recommend? Or would you recommend any Tikka? Thanks

I thought a Tikka 30-06 would be a great all around hunting rifle. It is. Now I’ve got two and one more on the way. I like the laminated stainless ones, so the second two are these. The first ones both shoot well. I’m thinking that a matching 308 and 223 would round out the battery. And probably a 22 as well. I really AM trying to streamline and downsize my equipment. It’s a process, I guess. 🤔

My stainless t3x 7mm08 shoots anything I’ve ran through it excellent. My t1x is running with some high end guns at our local 22 matches every month as well.
I’d like an 8 twist 223 but I’m back and forth between the compact and the 20” ctr.
When I die I hope I don't start voting democrat.
