I think I just saw a double car repo. Sitting on the porch I saw two flatbeds go by with their lights on.
They stopped a few houses down the street and after talking with someone at the house they drove the cars up on the flatbeds, so they weren't broke down.
When they came back by the house I could see they still had the plates on them. You would think if they were selling them and knew someone was picking them up they would take the plates off.
Both vehicles looked fairly new, one BMW suv, the other I think was a Lexus.
Probably bought with pandemic money and they no longer can make the payments.

The recession all the politicians on the left said wasn’t true and made up. Is here, it’s been here since last year. Now people are seeing it firsthand. The writing was on the wall a year ago and if these folks didn’t realize it then well I can’t say I feel bad for them. Most likely they voted for this. I know a fella just lost his job he’s the sole bread provider he voted for Biden. The company he was with going through restructuring. I want to tell him you voted for this, he’s in a business that depends on selling mortgages and car loans.

We are shipping a vehicle south and we have to drive our vehicles to the port. Maybe different back East.

I’m shipping a couple north and I have to take it to the port too. I bet it cost me a lot more to go north than it cost you (going twice as many miles) south.

Could be. Not familiar with shipping cars but I think most around here ship them south for the winter, then fly down.
If they are being shipped somewhere, maybe they are moving?

Lots of repo guys show up at 2:00 AM without any fanfare, and just winch the car onto the flatbed. Spray a little automatic transmission fluid on the deck and it gets slicker than Maggie's drawers- - - - -no keys needed!

Plates were still on them. Wouldn't you take the plates off if you sold them?

That must be a state thing. Here the plates belong to the car, not the driver or owner.

They usually repo at night unless the person is at work and then grab it during the day. I knew a few of these guys and they don't like confrontation.

Repo guys are not going to take the plates off.

Or you use glides and do it right.

A tow truck is much better if the car allows it.

Knew a fellow had a 97 F-150, he parked it in the isolated lot we used for
our trucks. Knew it was new, 1st year of the style.

"Emery, arent you worried parking it here?"
"No"
"I would be"
"Wellllllll, im kinda hiding it."
"From who?"
"Ford"
"Why"
"Welllll, I took it for a test drive for shìts and giggles,
the sign said No Money Down. And the salesman said the same thing"
"Emery, those trucks havent been out long, how behind are you? I know they
dont want the truck back, they will work with you id things are tight."
"Ive had it 6 months, havent made a payment. Aint gonna, im gonna enjoy it till
they take it. I aing never had a new truck before!"

I saw a tow truck come pickup a neighbors pickup middle of the day, he wasn’t home so I texted him and let him know a truck with no decal was towing his truck. We live on a private road and keep an eye on each others places. Turns out he voluntarily had it repoed because it broke down and he didn’t want to pay to fix it. So they came, hooked, and were gone in 10 minutes.

Or they lost their jobs because we're in a deep recession.

When I bounced at "the popular places" back in early 90's, we made buddies with the Repo man. Every 20' something with their first real job thinks they need a flashy new car. Lots of them left that parking lot on a hook or a flatbed. He'd pick up our breakfast tab every so often. 6 or 8 250-350 pound guys can eat a pile of breakfast.

Same repo man played hell on his not quite ex wife by moving "her" vehicle, titled in his name, from Wal-Mart parking lot over to the other strip mall..

Friend of mine is a repo man. You could not pay me enough to do that job.
