My daughter goes on a walk every morning with her daughter. Today was a special day as it's Riley's first birthday. As they were walking my daughter saw her neighbor and his 18 yo daughter run out of their house and jump into the daughter's car.
Before she could get it started he jumps out and starts throwing up beside the car which was in their driveway.
As my daughter gets closer she asked the man if he was ok. Again he threw up and and his daughter said they were going to the emergency room. Morgan, (my daughter) saw that the man was throwing up blood. He asked Morgan to call 911. The man collapses from his knees to face down and lost consciousness. 911 answers and ask Morgan if he is breathing. Morgan replies that he is not and they instruct her to roll him onto his back and begin CPR. Morgan does so and starts applying chest compressions. The mans daughter had run back into their house for some reason and is frantically hysterical. Apparently her mom was in Stephenville about and hour away.
Finally after about 7-10 minutes emergency personnel arrive and relieve Morgan from administering CPR. The man never responded to her attempts to save him.

Damn. Good on her for trying.
With all the fentanyl going around, I'd be hesitant to do CPR, or even touch someone who I suspected might be in drug-related distress.

With all the fentanyl going around, I'd be hesitant to do CPR, or even touch someone who I suspected might be in drug-related distress. If he was doing all that, it wasn’t fentanyl. He would have just gotten sleepy and then his breathing would get slower until it stops. They turn blue and die.

Why am I not surprised. Well, to be fair, exsanguinating hemorrhage patient are not really the target population for CPR. I think that calling 911 creates a new time dimension. Each minute waiting for EMS arrival feels like a full hour. Good on her for trying.

What is the target population for CPR?
The 77 year old man with a case of hardening of the arteries, so bad that he is in v-fib?

What is the target population for CPR? Probably cardiac arrest. But I could be wrong. OP tell your daughter good job, sometimes it's not fun or glorious being the man in the arena, but to have tried and failed is better than to have sat on the couch like so many 24hr know-nothings.

Once again, CPR didn't work.
Why am I not surprised. OTOH, 3 EMT's worked on me for 30 minutes after a brain bleed due to a blood thinner complication stopped my heart. They picked up another EMT in town and continued to San Antonio and finally got the machine to keep a heart beat . Wife said they would trade off doing CPR and all three of them were covered in sweat. Those guys saved my life.
