Hey Paul, do you know of any padded bike shorts that don't look gay?

At least not exceedingly gay??

Your seat hurting your ass? I've spent most of a day in the saddle many times without padded shorts. My solution was a new saddle.

Might have to go that route. I hear the padded shorts help though.

The only person that can say they are worth it is you.
The mountain bike shorts typically have an outer shell that looks like normal shorts and the inside liner is padded spandex. You might like them personally I don't find them necessary.

OR you could just attach a Maxi pad to the shorts you already own. Looks about the same to me.

This.

But for no padding at all, the Brooks B17. All leather, breaks in like a good pair of boots….

AeroTech Designs makes a top quality product, and most of it is made in the USA. Easily the most comfortable shorts I have ever worn. Exceptionally durable. As far as appearance goes, you'll have to judge for yourself.

https://aerotechdesigns.com/

They have regular spandex and a loose fit padded short. They very rarely have sales, but that have 17.76% off right now.

Padded shorts are a game changer for me and most people who use them.

I got a nice padded seat, use the padded shorts and the lotion/cream on my rear. Comfort for me.

Had to come to a complete stop today on a section of 55MPH road.

I honked, hopefully the bicyclist will get tired of being honked at and stop riding on the roads.

I really like my Brooks B17 on my commuter bike for cycling to the office.

But whether I’m commuting, mountain biking or on my road bike, I always wear mountain biking shorts. Just a personal preference that I’m sure is appreciated by everyone. Spandex is not a good look for me. Hopefully they meet the “not exceedingly gay” criterion of the OP but I’m sure someone will be happy to correct me if I erred.

Sadly getting hit will be the only way most will learn. Quite a few will require several hits.

I have worn padded spandex cycling shorts in the past on my road bikes (and still do on occasion). Nowadays I wear padded liner shorts under baggy hiking type shorts on either my road or mountain bikes. Paul's link above to aerotechdesigns shows the padded liner shorts...

More likely speeding around a blind curve texting while drinking a beer and nearly killed a cyclist.

Had a group of cyclists hold up traffic here a couple weeks ago. They were cycling from Texas to Alaska for cancer research so no photo was taken.

Really nice group of college students giving back, raising money, and creating memories for life.

Did they have a warning vehicle following them?
