A friend of mine wants to sell a 1984 Colt Python. .357 mag, 6” blued barrel, walnut grips, all original, comes with original box, manual, etc. fired once and kept in a gun safe since that time. I told him I would ask here about what as many are knowledgeable about these handguns and the current market.

Thanks for reading my post.

These are all sold Pythons. 83 pages of Pythons and most don’t sell, people think they are worth more than they really are.

I do not know that. He was gathering info to make a decision on selling price.

Sounds like it is almost like new with box /papers. Should be pushing $2500 to $3000.

I have a blued 1979 with a 4 inch barrel.(wood grips and rubber grips,no box 95%) Anyone know the price differences between barrels lengths? Finish? 6 inch is common correct? Stainless steel brings more? TY

That one mentioned above at GB never got a starting bid of $2100. Demand has fallen since they started manufacturing Pythons again.

I know a lot of gun collectors and travel to many gun shows and has seen a deep reduction in Python values since Colt re-introduced the model. Local gun shops have all 3 barrel lengths on sale now about a hundred off MSRP. Anyone holding old Pythons missed the boat for a premium price.
