Nice rifles. They only made the MR-7 for 3.5 years. Made them in 270, 30-06, 280 and 25-06. Have all four of them. They are glass bedded from factory. Great shooters

After they discontinued making the MR-7 due to patent infringement they made the MR-7B for one year. 270 and 30-06. Those were in a birch stock and were ADL. They discontinued those due to patent infringement as well.

Is the MR-7 the one with the dumping floorplate that used Browning magazines?

That is correct. The next year they changed from a walnut stock to birch and made it an ADL. Called it a MR-7B. Remington then sued them for patent infringement over the bolt design and they stopped making them. A lot fewer of the MR-7B’s out there.

Thank you. That helps me a little as I have 2 Walnut stocks (One is a deluxe) for the Marlin with the dropping floorplate. I will correctly label them now. Free bump for the OP.

Be aware however, the Browning A-Bolt magazines don't work on the MR-7. It MUST have its proprietary magazine, which are extremely difficult to find.
A great rifle, none the less and the .280 Rem chambering is the rarest one to find in the MR-7. GLWS

They’re very good rifles. At least the one I had was. A 25/06 and it shot very well with factory ammo.
