I built one on a Sako Vixen action as a short range deer rifle. It has become one of my favorite rifles. Lots of .223 brass that’s formed in one resizing pass, then prime, charge, seat and shoot. Capable, cheap, reliable and no recoil to speak of. What’s not to like?

Been working with one on a Savage Action, I've been working with. There is a thread on it I started down in the Reloading Section, Varmint Rifles. Got loads I've chronographed posted.
Plan on using this upcoming deer season. Thinking 90 to 105 grain bullets. I'd say those are a tad on the heavy side from my experience. My wife shoots 70 gr nbts and gets great results. Her first buck she shot facing her and the bullet penetrated to the diaphragm, deer ran 15' and piled up. Major damage to the vitals. The was the only animal that she shot with it that didn't drop right there. My daughter will be shooting her first deer this year with that same combo.

I had a 6 TCU and 6x47 and now run the 6 TCU successor, the 6mm Mongoose in an 18" AR, barrel is by Mad Dog Weapons Systems. The 6 Mongoose is a 223 shortened .050 and blown out with a 40 degree shoulder, 31 grains H2o capacity, shoots .3" with 80 grain FBSPs over 844, the bulk version of H-335. At 3k the 80 grain does not fully penetrate a yote. But the shortened, blown out case does well with 95-100s in the AR-15 mags. This 6 Mongoose sounds like the plan. A mini Creedmoor. I have been considering a 277 Wolverine, but the 6 Mongoose is a serious contender. What velocities are you getting with 95-100gr?

6x45 ""CALIBER"" LOL,,, .243 - .224?????? I’m always surprised that this one hasn’t caught on. If you call a magazine a clip people will point it out. If you call a carbine a rifle they will too. But conflate the chamber and the bore and few care.

I’ve had one and it shot very well. I ended up selling the brass barrel and dies because it didn’t do anything for me. I have come to a point that I don’t shoot anything under 4000 ft./s. That’s just where I’m at.

Hey Gunsmith I've got my action/barrel/stock/trigger & bottom metal - I just need to decide what caliber to have you chamber it in. >laf.

I will have one built on a LH CZ527 action. Should be a great ranch rifle.
