Since you're talking 'numerous' pistols - A small generic upright safe works
great for a dedicated handgun safe.
I bought an inexpensive Stack-On upright safe 19" square X 55" height.
I didn't use the slotted rifle dividers, and I found extra shelving boards at Menards
the right width and cut them to the right length. I also needed extra shelving
pegs and found them at Menards.
Many handguns of the same manufacturer have the same cases, and interlock uniformly
when stacking atop, or side x side, in the safe. I reserve another shelf for handguns
in soft cases or holsters.
I still had room on the bottom for plastic boxes containing ammo, binoculars, and some prized knives.
Orginized, I can easily find any handgun and retrieve it without removing any stuff in the way.
