If it'll function reliably, I'll own one once they thread a barrel.

I have a Single Six convertible that I can shoot .22 mag in but with the ammo costing about the same as 9mm it doesn’t get the mag stuff often.

During the covid rush and limited supply, 9mm went up considerably. It is back down to pre -ovid prices. 22 mag steadily crept up and hasn't retreated at all. I can't explain my love for the 22 magnum, but I am a fan.

WOW,

One more thing I have to have...

Checks a lot of boxes... cut for the Shield RMSc footprint, w/ back-up iron sights, pic. rail.

Hope to see some reviews detailing the accuracy and reliability.

If it's accurate and is reliable, like you when it's offered with a threaded barrel I'll pick one up.

Honest Outlaw experienced numerous feeding failures in his initial testing. Unlike some other .22 Mag tests I’ve watched of late, he used the recommended ammo. He’ll do a 1000-round test eventually, so the bugs might work themselves out.

If forced to choose one right now, I’d pick the Walther, which seems to run well with the right ammo. Not choosing any though until I get my 5.7 loads worked up.

.22 WMR was 18.99 a box last year, it's 13.99 now. I'd say it's come down some.

Gunbroker's got 39 of them right now... why don't one of you buy one and give it an accuracy and reliability test for us?

"Honest Outlaw experienced numerous feeding failures in his initial testing."

Pappy, Thanks for posting the review.

Honest Outlaw either has a limp wrist problem or extremely bad luck. I read his analysis of S&W's CSX, worst gun ever (regarding reliability), turned around and read several with no reliability issues? But, the M&P 22 Magnum is a new gun & his is one data point. Worst case scenario, S&W has excellent customer service.

What I wonder, and I did not watch the video yet, is if he is careful how he loads the magazine... I've got a Tippman AR-22, you can read several bad reviews regarding reliability. IF you just dump shells into the magazine and then move the follower up to them, it will have issues, but if you carefully load it (per the instructions - but who reads those?) you won't. After getting the memo, it's a rare event for my Tippman AR22 to malfunction. Same can be said for my 1911 conversion.

Jerry

Watched it; He's got a rock solid grip, 6-7 failures in 300 rounds. Said he's going to do a 1,000 round test on it so that will be interesting. Also ran CCI FMJ & JHP and had issues with all.

He also had trouble with the new Henry Homesteader, even after sending it back for repair. Still might be a bad apple, one data point as you say, or there’s a break-in issue, or maybe one with the mags.

My 5.7 had a similar issue at times that I found was caused by failure to seat the mag hard. Looks fully seated, but ain’t. HO is an honest reviewer, like Mr. Gunsandgear, and a heck of a shot.

S&W is not about to add a threaded barrel any time soon. That's what they said yesterday.

I will probably have one in the future.

I have a PMR 30. It is OK. I keep losing mags. because of the poor release button.

"HO is an honest reviewer, like Mr. Gunsandgear, and a heck of a shot."

Pappy,

Good to know, that's why I quit the gun rags many years ago, the reviews were B.S. (not to mention they ran out of things to write about), every gun was great, some of the on-line reviewers today are the same. I've been a beta tester (if that's the right word) on too many new guns to leap, prefer to see others experiences first. It was apparent in this video that he's a damned good pistol shot.

Hopefully it shakes out to be ok, looks like it would be a good woods gun, if accurate enough.

Mr. Gunsandgear just released his initial review. Lots of FTE early with MaxiMags, then 1 in the next 240(?) rounds. More to follow…

Hope this gets worked out since as I mentioned before elsewhere, I have two pistols with that same trigger and it would be nice to have another.

Since I made that post, I did a little ammo shopping and noticed that as well. Academy Sports is still in the $18 range.

Maybe they will have time to work out the bugs before they thread a barrel. I'll end up with one of these or a PSA 5.7. It's not a need, so I can be patient.

22 Mag prices, I buy my 22 LR at Target Sports, the 'Free' shipping is only when you buy a case. Looking only at the 'in-stock' it's $13.50/Box of 50 to $14/Box (on the low end).

That S&W has peaked my interest. Nice looking and holds 30 rounds. Might have to wait to see it through growing pains but I really like it.

I was ordering some ammo from PSA yesterday. I made the mistake of looking at their 5.7s. They had a threaded barrel blem for $399. I felt sorry for it and offered it a new home. I guess that precludes the need for one of these, but I can be wishy-washy.

Watched .22 Plinkster’s review of the Smith today. He had one FTF in 800 rounds, and shot ammo with bullet weights from 30-50gr.

Says it’s the most reliable .22 M auto he’s tried.
