Decided to stop passin' schit up and put meat in the freezer.

Meat doe:

Note that front leg, ain't exactly natural? 40 yd broadside and running, picked up easy in the 6x42..... and front running gear was knocked out.

Exit side:

168 gr. TSX, .30-06.

The yearling was taken at 250ish, at last light (dressed it via headlamp; it were that late). Knocked out both shoulders. No pics, but the exit on the yearling, looked identical.

Looks like a healthy doe. Did she have much fat on her?

Both the doe and the yearling were VERY fat.

My wife and I worked up both today, and they are wrapped and in the freezer right now.

Not the fattest I've ever taken, but damned sure healthy.

VA,
Nice job! Our season closes in about 20 minutes. I set my sights on a big buck on my grandfather's property and ran the track several days. Just couldn't connect at the right time. Glad one of us filled a freezer.

is the state really broken up that much? seems like the other NC'ers were done pretty quickly. (don't know much about game density in NC)

VA season; not NC. But yeah, NC is about that broken up. VA's worse, as far as being broken up, but where I hunt the rifle season comes in the Monday of Thanksgiving week and runs to the first Saturday after the first full week in January. Add two weeks of ML before that.... and a month of archery before that..... and in some places, 6 weeks of "urban zone" archery before, and three months after that....

We got a schit load of deer 'round here.

CT is quite good for deer as well. The archery season is long and has a generous bag. The firearms season is three weeks long with two deer allowed. The the muzzleloader season starts for two more weeks. That allows me two more deer. Don't think I am going to shoot another one but who knows. Now coyotes thats different.

Just like most hunters if a nice buck shows then thats different.
