Gary Reeder put this together for me. Specs are: - Take off Marlin cowboy barrel cut to 16-ish inches and threaded with octagon thread protector made. Sights were remounted. Slight nick in the thread protector was here when it got home. - Action job. - Factory wood stripped and refinished. - And his signature high polish bluing.
Full disclosure: 1) A suppressor doesn’t fit as is. It will need a shim or something made to do that. No big deal if you don’t plan to run a suppressor or don’t mind a shim. Could probably also add a suppressor mount to it and use a QD mount. I think when he did the work, he was expecting me to install an ocatagon muzzle brake. Not sure why else he would have done it like this. 2) He reused the factory wood, which is mostly free of dents, but there are a couple. No cracks.
Base rifle was made in 1976. Asking $2,500, shipped and insured to your dealer from me, an individual. If buyer chooses, for actual cost extra, I will buy a hard case to ship the rifle in.
With this rifle, you can get a Reeder customized rifle without the year wait , which is how long I waited for this one. Round count since having the work done is two rounds.
I don’t think without cutting a new dovetail. I will send it back to Reeder if it doesn’t sell after a few days. Was just a major let down to screw that can down and hit the tube. I didn’t even think to look before doing it. Ha
Man, what a bummer oversight on the suppressor mount. Was about to jump on this as short, suppressed lever guns are about as much fun to shoot as any platform I’ve ever shoot
Yep. Like I said, if no one jumps in a few days, I’ll bite the bullet and send it back to be fixed. My 1894CST is a blast to shoot suppressed, so I really want a 44 mag to do the same.
I will add. He was very apologetic and said he would fix it at no cost. It was just so disappointing I thought if i could just walk away from it and start over I would.
