Got a text an hour ago saying it was my boss and he needed me to take care of something for him. It was an unknown number and the stupid f*cker spelled my name wrong, how's that for a couple of red flags?

He thinks I'm on my way to the Apple store to buy gift cards for "customers."

Any good ideas on how to play him? I'm just stringing him along/

Wants me to buy two $500 gift cards. I told him I left my AMEX at home. And I'm #15 in line so this might take a while.....

Tell him next your CC was expired- have to go home to get another.

That's a new one. You could play along and waste his time, so he's got less chance of trying to rip someone else off.

Tell him you delivered the cards, and the people who got them were very thankful.

Ask him for a raise.

Tell him you are driving past the office and see his car there so you are stopping to talk in person.

Ha! I told him my card was denied and I had to go to the ATM for cash. Then get back in line, the Apple store is crowded!

Well, I didn't do that, I escalated. Told him or her I was tired of him asking me to run his errands, I get no respect, and I didn't need the job so I quit.

Told him to get his own damn gift cards and shove 'em up his ass, sideways.

That may have scared him off.

But, I strung him along for a couple hours while doing chores so that's a net positive.

Play them as long as you can. The ruse will end when he wants you to scratch the panel and give you the numbers. Alternatively he'll give you an address of a mule to send the cards to and you'll have something to give to authorities, but I doubt it'll go down that path.

Edit: Just saw your post saying that you called it off. He'll be trying that same stunt on someone else no doubt. They are relentless.

Ive been messing with the ones calling about Social security. Ive pissed them off so bad Im getting 45 calls per day. I had to set my phone to go to VM for unkwown callers.

A grown man not looking for attention would hang up and forget about it.
