How would a new pure retro 4 WD closed box multi use sell? As in normal aspiration, 5 or 6 speed with a CLUTCH or paddle shift, straight axles, auto hubs for convenience. Otherwise basic niceities as AC maybe heated seats/steering wheel.

There's a company in Namibia Wildveld Motor Company that is doing frame-off restomods on Cruisers and Land Rovers. They convert 25+ year old frames into new builds and export them to the US and other markets. They ain't cheap and the waiting list is very long for their work. I've seen several of their builds and they are amazing. Just not willing to part with the $140,000 - $200,000+ it takes to own one.

It sounds like it can be done at a reasonable price. IMO the 25 year old and older models to get around the import ban are more iconic, especially for something that isn’t being bought to be a DD.

We spent weeks in 1997 driving around Australia in a Land Cruiser. It was a great vehicles, especially when it came to fording streams.

Maybe RAM would take the bait. Short wheel base enclosed with a Cummins or before mentioned std aspirated gas. Resurrected RamCharger +P+

My 06 Dodge 2500 Diesel has bounced off few trees and at least one mail box, been through hail storms and pretty much been beat to hell, but the engine only has 125K and it will pull a house up a tree. There is no way i'd ever pay what used to be house prices for any vehicle

Sorry, MrEd, but I must have missed your reply to my question as to whether you think Trump lost the election to Biden by Voter Fraud. Would you mind letting us know your thoughts on this delicate subject matter again, please?
Inquiring minds and all that, you know.
Thanks in advance for your succinct reply. A simple Yes or No will do.

I suspect the fenders on my 1978 version are made of stouter stuff than the bumpers on the new models. If I put about $40K into a restoration, I could probably double the money.

I must have been thinking of the FJ 40. I’ve got a nice 79 fj40 in the shop here. I’m second owner, bought in 86 I think. Very fun vehicle. I am always on the look out for a new frame. Osky
