Just a fun fact...it's an expensive war. Cruising the articles on 'mercenary pay in Ukraine', most sources agree, 5 yrs military experience will get you hired on at about 60,000 USD a month. Officers, will get about 25% more. Good thing the US taxpayer is footing the bill, that kind of wages, it adds up quick. Apparently, Wagner Group doesn't pay that well. Russian regulars...IF you can believe Euronews, get around 810 a month....but much , much more for certain MOS's.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

The kind of mercenaries they’re looking to pay $60k per month to are not infantry and artillery grunts.
They’re looking for skilled, knowledgeable combat veterans who can train men on advanced weaponry and advise on tactics.

Putin unable to attend the BRICs conference in South Africa due to the outstanding international arrest warrants on him. The warrant was issued by the ICC (International Criminal Court) in The Hague. It has jurisdiction in any member nation which are obligated to arrest Putin for war crimes that he is charged with. This limits Putin’s travels to non ICC member nations only and he had observed the warrants traveling accordingly. ETA: South Africa is a member nation of the ICC which is why Putin won’t attend the BRICs conference there. SA is trying to repeal its membership in the ICC.
