Folks, I've got an RSI .243 Winchester with a Redfield 2X7 scope. The fellow I bought it from didn't shoot it enough to get a load developed. Another No.1a, also a .243, I just got back from Penrod Precision is going to be my coyote rifle with 65 Hornady V max bullets. The RSI I want to use in PA for deer hunting, using Nosler 90 or 95 grain Ballistic Tips. I shot it for the first time Wednesday @ 100 yards benched from a rest. I can use the target again -not one hole, 5 pair of Maggie's Drawers!!! I've got work to do. First, I intend to replace the scope with a Leupold 1X6 or 1X5, tighten or replace the scope rail, then load development. The trigger is a 3-screw and breaks clean. If nothing I try works, when I get my 1V back from Mark Penrod I'll ask what kind of magic he can do to an RSI. I'm only attacking one issue at a time, then testing for a result. Hopefully I can get it to shoot, it's a nice rifle and comfortable to carry. Not much seems to be discussed concerning RSI models. If you've experienced any RSI issues, please respond. Thank you in advance for you time, help and consideration. Semper Fidelis, Soup

I have an RSI in 7x57. I really haven’t shot it enough to learn any information to pass along. It’s such a joy to carry I will probably be a little forgiving when it comes to the accuracy dept.

Roger Renner put it all together. set trigger is nice. only thing not great is safety is a bit hard to put on. under 1 Moa with most any factory ammo and about to start with nosler 125 ab for fun. check to be sure everything is tight in mount and rings. post pictures when you can. god bless!!

Put the target back up at 25 yards and find out where it is hitting. Adjust scope, done.

I had one in 7x57. From the bench it would shoot 1.5 to 2" groups but, trying to shoot it offhand was a exercise in futility.

'85 RSI in .243 win. WW 100 gr cloverleafed at 75 yards. Zipped through deer at 50 on the trot. Got 95gr DXP to try the following yr. Deer didn't get the memo. Sold rifle. Boring wood. Initially bought to be rebarreled to .35 rem. But shot so good I just ran it. Was a bit blasty in .243

My RSI is 7mm Mauser. It took a while to get it to shoot “good enough” hunting accuracy. It's the only No.1 I own that has not drawn blood.

Hunting buddy has a .257 Roberts RSI, it's quite accurate, I think he has killed 3 pronghorn with it. Sorry, I don't know his loads.

Gents, I took the Redfield off as I had a Leupold VX 3 here and a set of the extended Ruger rings. The scope didn't have enough windage or elevation adjustment to align with the bore sighter. I've got another scope but it's a 6X20. So, for now I'm going to try to sell the 3 Leupold's I've got and go on the hunt for something else. Maybe I should try the Redfield in the improved rings to get some eye relief. As of today, that's where I am! If you've got any solutions or know someone looking for a couple three scopes, please pm. Have a good evening. Semper Fidelis Soup

of all the Ruger #1`s i have owned the 2 most accurate = 1 was a 1-B 243 Win. other 1 was a 257 Roberts RSI both these Ruger # 1`s shot under 3/4 inch off my cement bench and my handloads right away out of the Ruger box that they came in ,with a good brand scope , both sighted -in very easy too. > Soup if you lived near me i would help you to get that Ruger #1 shooting well. take care,Pete53

I shot it for the first time Wednesday @ 100 yards benched from a rest. I can use the target again -not one hole, 5 pair of Maggie's Drawers!!! I've got work to do. I've read more than a few accuracy tests on this forum. I doubt I've ever seen a reference to Maggie's Drawers. Maybe just state what the group sizes were and shots per group

Ammo/primer shortage has taught me to observe each fired round through the spotting scope at the range. No way would I continue to fire and not hit the target.

Did you pull the bolt and look through boresight before you shot it? That's easy enough to do. However, it always amazes me how many guys don't do this.. As for the rifle, hopefully the op will keep us posted on the progress. Also wondering what rings he's using? Hopefully not ones meant for a Ruger 77.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA
