"Preserving the Constitution, fighting off the nibblers and chippers, even nibblers and chippers with good intentions, was once regarded by conservatives as the first duty of the citizen. It still is." Wesley Pruden

Been away for a while. Just got back from a multi week diving trip to the Bay Islands in the Carribean. Good times, I got in about 50 dives with lots of friends. Here's a few pictures of the adventure...
Here's the row of dive boats before heading out in the morning:
Here are the bungalows we stayed in, right on the water. Beautiful views of the ocean:
Here we are heading out for a night dive and a picture of sunset from the boat:
Here's the porch of the bungalow, equiped with dive break hammock LOL:
It's hard to see, but here's a little red seahorse I came across blending in with the coral:
Here's a sea turtle we swam with for a few minutes. We either scare the schitt out of him or he was just sick of us because he pooped at us about 2/3rds of the way through lmao.
Here's a dive spot where people have been feeding the reef sharks. Not a big fan of the practice but it does make for a good dive:

Because we were doing 4 dives a day, we dove exclusively on Nitrox to minimize the chance of decompression sickness.

Here's one coming out of a cave dive. This was kind of sad, but they called this the dolphin graveyard. There's so many tighter tunnels and twist and turns, that some dolphins go in there and get confused by their sonar bounce backs, and end up dying in there.

It was a great time. Under water is my happy place. I've decided to start going on a couple 2 week trips a year until retirement. I recently got a pay raise at work that will fully pay for the trips without impacting my retirement contributions or daily cost of living. Getting in and out of the water with all the gear gets harder as we get older but once you're in the water it's easy as long as your swimming leg strength is good. On this last trip, I had friends deep into their 70s doing great in the water.

Next adventure is 2 weeks in January in the Philippines. Can't wait. That part of the Pacific is like marine life on steroids.

Look forward to pics of that as well. What is your "Holy Grail" of marine life ?
I have a whole bucket list of places I'd like to see while my knees still work. I've seen a variety of reef sharks, Moray eels, eagle rays, barracuda, octopus, squids, mantis shrimp are pretty cool. For warm water, I'd like to do a hammerhead dive off Maui and a manta ray dive off Kona.
On the more technical side, I'd like to do more cave dives and one of my trips will definitely be to Truk Lagoon where there's about 60 WWII wrecks.
