Couple iron sight targets from a few of these old guns. I can still get there, but every yr takes more practice.

Fried squirrel, then laid on a bed of fresh cut onions and red wine, covered with tin foil and braised in the oven until fork tender. GOOD.

Some of my wife's homemade Stromboli. She makes the dough from scratch.

1 thing about making your own, if you skimp on different cheeses and meats it's your own fault.

Same with her pizza. Makes it from scratch.

Had a couple of decent sunsets lately

16 Jul

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

this one, 22 Jul, covered most of the Western sky, I used the panorama feature to get most of it in:

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

This plant I overwintered in the house. Fruits were green turning to red. Now they turn black instead. If anything, they are hotter too:

They are small, but fiery. I made a little chicken burrito and chopped up one like this and my lips, tongue, and even my cheeks were tingling pretty good:

Gardens so far are "Meh". Couple of things doing good, others slow or not so good.

Tater bed in the garden across the creek. With luck and a good harvest, we won't be buying any taters this fall/winter/spring.

And with the row cover over them. I went to our local metal store and got some 3/16" cold rolled round stock, had them cut the 20' sticks into thirds, stick an end in the ground, bend over, instant long lasting non-plastic hoops.

Hope this little one eats its fill of the damn grasshopper hatch we had this year.

waachu talkin' bout Willis? grin

It was well used getting the chicken out between my teefers. I hate the damn dyed ones, but I can't find American made toothpicks anywhere and them dyed ones were all that's left in the house. Going to have to break down and buy some Chinese "Diamond Brand" ones, probably made out of wood used in the containment areas of a Nuke plant.

Geno, is that a Thai bullseye chili ?

Grew them a few years ago, hotter n heck & we like hot.

Still got a bunch, we dried by hanging in the kitchen window !

1- 1 & 1/2 of them to a full pot of anything, will liven it up !

Hey Paul.

Can't remember the name, something my sister in SoCal was growing a couple of years back. I saved some seed from them, got them to grow. Dragon something, so if not from Thailand then probably in that area.

I can no longer find them, the Thai peppers I grew in the 90's looked like some of what they call ornamental peppers. Smaller and less pointy than those ones in you picture. Hotter than this black version too.

I was in University then, had a young classmate said he liked hot stuff. So I gave him some serranos and others, including the little Thai ones. He came to class one day and asked WTF did I do to him. laugh

I'd warned him, to go easy with them. He, thinking they were just little fellas, put 5 of them in a skillet of stir fry! eek

Said he's eyes were watering and snot was running. I told him I love hot spicy stuff and usually only use one or two at most for a fry pan full of food.

Them Thais know their stuff when it comes to hot peppers!

Those ones in your pic look pretty close though. I'm going to see if I can find some seed or a starter plant at one of the nearby (within 100 miles) nurseries.

Got a funny for you Geno !

Back in grade 8, they had a thai pepper bush growing in a garden, right outside our classroom.

1 day, a buddy & I decided to try them.

#HOLYFUCKSWEATSNOTCANTBREATH

Anyway, couple of weeks later, he tells me, a couple of other kids had been picking on him.

Since we had grown up in the same suburb, played all the same sports et al, he convinced me to help with payback.

Before lunch break, he noted the seats they were sitting at.

Over luch, we picked a few each, tore the stalk end off, & then proceeded to rub the ends of their pens, inside the pepper hulls.

After we were back in class, all hell broke loose !

He & I got to visit the headmasters office, where we received 6 of his best, each !

Still laugh about it, to this day !
