I didn't fall off the turnip truck, but some of the conversations here have me confused, so if anyone can clarify this for me, it would be greatly appreciated.
In this particular instance, the topic is reloading the 22-250 Remington with Blue Dot (kudos to Seafire for his willingness to share). I have four different makes of brass (Lapua, Sako, Norma, and Remington-Peters) and they all have primer pockets sized to take Large Rifle or Large Pistol primers. Yet, comments are made about members having "excellent results" using Small Pistol and Small Rifle primers. How does that work? The difference in diameters does not support interchangeability, and I'm pretty sure they don't glue them in. As mentioned, I'm confused and probably missing the obviously simple answer. Anyone care to guide me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

That would be 22-250 cases made for small rifle primers. I don’t personally know which company offers them.

For Blue Dot loads in 22-250, I've used Large Rifle, Large Pistol and Large Pistol Mag primers. Each worked fine.

Start low and work up as usual but don't trust me, ask Seafire.

I've seen 22.250 cases that were made with small rifle primer holes.

At the time I didn't have any interest or real need for them, so I passed and forgot about them.

However I definitely recall seeing them. They were not from one of the major manufacturers here in the USA.
Either European or one of the upscale brass makers.

If I was following my own recommendations, I'd just use any of the brass you have already and use Large Rifle or Mag Pistol primers and Rock on. Blue Dot is a pretty accurate powder, and is not that particular, in most chamberings I've tested and used it in., which have been a lot of them.

What is "accurate", can vary shooter to shooter. My consideration of "accurate" is if it can consistently hit a sage rat, 85% +
or more at the time, for distances at 200 to 250 yds., off a solid rest of course.

Don't try to overthink it all. Small rifle primers won't go into a large rifle primer hole, nor vice versa.

in the 22.250, don't go over 19 grains of Blue Dot, with bullet weights from 40 to 60 grains.

seat a bullet as soon as you charge the case, to eliminate double charges.

if interrupted in the middle of charging a case, turn it over and empty the contents, and put it upside down in your load block, so you know where to start from once again...

over 19 grains will mess up your action and potentially your rifle's action also., or your face if you go over board.

be safe, and use your head.

Thanks,guys. I did some more digging and it seems that they were made from probably a .308 case, or similar source. I wasn't quite sure why they would wnt to, but people do what people do.

The SMALL primer Reminton brass was manufactured in order to form the ORIGINAL 22 and 6 BR Brass it labeled UBBR which was 308 also used to form the 22 Cheetah wildcat
