I recently had a local gun smith replace the factory trigger of my Husqvarna 1640 to a Timney trigger.

The bolt is now very stiff and difficult to close, requiring it to be strong armed to Close completely.
It is not smooth by any means.

What went wrong?

How could changinging the trigger affect bolt closure?

Does it close easily if you hold the trigger back? Check the drag between the sear and cocking piece.

Thank you for responding.

Yes, it closes very easy when I hold the trigger back.

Color the cocking piece and the trigger sear connector with black Magic Marker and close the bolt...see if there's interference.

Timneys on that style action can have that issue from the safety too. -Al

Timney may have your answer, I was chasing a different issue and saw on the internet that some sears were too tall or something like that. Contact timney.

Does this help?

What Timmey did you use ? They haven't made one for the 1600 in years.

If it shows interference, what next?

Unless you're comfortable doing the work, I'd suggest returning it to the person that installed it and give them a chance to finish the job.
