Just in jest. I like Markers Mark , but everyone's taste varies with bourbon as it does with Coke , Pepsi or Dr Pepper. But I find a lot of people like Makers , straight or mixed (which some people believe to be a sin)...Joe

I agree with you about Still Austin. I like it better than most Balcones bourbons that I've had.

I've been drinking Makers lately, but honestly they all taste the same after a drink or two unless you want to spend some coin. I think Buffalo Trace is way overrated, it's okay but nothing special.

I prefer the cheaper Small Batch over the Single Barrel.

I’ll have to give that a try, since Buffalo Trace is extremely hard to find in Va.
Have to pick up when in W Va.

Haven’t seen any BT on the shelves in 2-3 years.

Old Forester 1920
Knob Creek 12 year
Knob Creek Single Barrel
Elijah Craig Single Barrel
Russell's Reserve Single Barrel
Wild Turkey Rare Breed

The KC and EC bottles listed above can be somewhat hard to find, the others should be relatively easy to find.

If it must be “Bourbon” I’m out of line. But if you open it up to whisky I’d like to recommend a couple of Rye. For the past couple of months I’ve tried various rye partly because of the recent clishmaclaver over such. Bulleit I think is very good at 95% rye grain. Wild Turkey 101 Rye at iirc 53%.”, with the balance being corn and barley, is a fine nip as well. The WT seems to have more bite but it’s a good pain. Bulleit being more smooth if rye can be called that. Either, especially WT, pairs well with a bit of good water. All this to be taken as from an uneducated palate with a modest budget. Cheers

I'm not a bourbon fan. Having said that, the last bourbon I had served to me that I thought was pretty good was Four Roses Small Batch. Maybe not good enough to convert me into a bourbon drinker. But good enough for me to say "Yes" on a refill of the glass.

Same here. The fact it is also dirt cheap is icing on the cake.

I would suggest
Makers Mark 101 or Cask Strength
Older Forester 1910 and 1920 -or better yet half and half to get 1915\
Wilderness Trail make a really good rye and bourbon as does New Riff
Hard Truth for a great rye - especially the store picks
On the Wild Turkey front - Russell’s Reserve or Rare Breed. WT 101 isn’t bad for a budget pick

I’m having some 1792 bottled in bond store pick from a place in MS tonight which is a great bottle

Old Crow is way better than any number of brands of Canadian lighter fluid.

If we are going to throw Tennessee whisky in the mix and call it bourbon, the Uncle Nearest 1884 is a good one.
