This one was made in 1952. I will fix my original post.

Thank you bsa!

No problem. That is a sweet standard weight. GLWS!!!

That is a really sweet 270. If condition is everything, that gun is nearly everything. It's not often I get to see what pricing is like on the top end of quality in the Pre-64 lineup. I have my eye on a Westerner in similar condition, but it's a little on the strong side for me without is nagging me in the back of my mind for too constantly.

That's a nice rifle. Gee, I just made a deal with myself; don't buy any more rifles. Hmm///...

I have why too many as it is. Hmm, thinking...

It’s not. The featherweights don’t have that ring under the back sight, and there is a hole drilled into the bolt handle on them also.

Clarification, since you are giving out poor information. The hole drilled in the bolt ovoid/round knob was done after 1952. They even drilled the standard weights, not just the featherweights. I have also seen some 1953 models without the hole drilled, as Winchester was a little slow on getting this done, and did not do all of them. But after 1954, they were all drilled, from what I've seen. Just so the OP knows, his rifle was made in '52.
Thanks! Was unaware it was done to the standard weights also.

No problem. It's a misconception that a lot of guys have. Even one of my close buddies argued with me, I had to show him proof in the Roger Rules, "The Rifleman's Rifle" book. Anyway, there have been more and more pre 64's popping up lately. This one seems to be one of the nicer ones.

Definitely cleaner than many I’ve seen recently.
