Had my 77/22 out today - fairly early one, 1987 production, Leupold 4X rimfire scope. Needed to sight back in for "normal" ammo, had it sighted for CCI Quiets the last few years. Dug out some Winchester Super-X hollow points that must be 20 yrs old and it proceeded to make nice little 50 yd 3-shot-touching groups. Not a target rifle but sure works for my uses.

I sure hope you have lots of those 20yr. old Winchester Super-X hp's.

that sounds familiar. a very good friend of mine had an older 77/22 that really loved a certain lot of Winchester ammo. and he could rename that lot number off for 20 years to the day he died..

I'd bought a used all weather & was a bit concerned about how good it shoot due to all the accurizing tips I'd read about. Plus was seeing bolt shims & the like for sale. Seems some of them had a really loose headspace.
Mine has no bolt play & it shows as a pretty damn good shooter for a sporter w/MiniMag HP.

Of course not. What's left is reserved for the 77/22. Suppose I'll have to start the search for a replacement before too long.
