What the heck happened to the Pac-12? They were a premier conference until a few weeks ago and now down to just four schools left. . Looks like we will be down to just three or four super conferences very soon.

It won't end there. The top schools will continue demanding more. College sports is not gonna last much longer.

Colleges should be like baseball - farm teams financed by the pros. That's what they are, just call them that.

Horrible leadership is what killed the PAC 12.

it's called super conferences . PAC 12 was never a premier conference. Their problem is they are located on the wrong end of the US.

Coming to a battle between ESPN and FOX. Disney isn't doing well there goes ESPN.

In regards to football, and to an extent basketball, there's be two conferences that matter. Big 10 and SEC. NIL deals and the trasfer portal are catalyzing the changes IMO

Revenue, you won’t see billion dollar tv contracts for AAA ball. People will pay big money to watch Jamarcus play for their favorite college though.

NIL paid to both sides portal and recruit. It's been the invention of NIL that is driving this.

Poor leadership in the Pac 12 led them to this. The morons at the helm signed a TV contract that left the Pac 12 drawing crumbs compared to the other premier conferences- even though they had a chance to get a bigger contract and turned it down. The bigger East Coast conferences were offering better money in their contracts so several of the Pac 12 teams jumped at the money. Oregon and Washington were the second wave to jump at the opportunity, and now that it seems there won't be a Pac anything any more unless they recruit teams from other lower conferences to fill out their schedule. Colorado, Arizona and Arizona State have jumped also from what I've been able to find, so there isn't much left...

Dude:

The entire local economy rises and falls week by week on U of O sports and U of O Sporting events (such as Olympic Trials that are held at U of O).

I don't even watch this stuff, but it affects half of the state. Ducks are on a winning streak, business deals go forward. Ducks on a losing streak, deals stall.

Its silly at best. But it is very real.

Yep. Ye Olde Ways are kaput.

The P12 lost me with the PAC12 Network. Couldn’t watch the in-conference games anymore without buying an expensive cable package or going to a bar. Meh. I don’t do much TV, and I quit drinking several years ago. If I can’t watch the conference games, against the weaker opponents especially, then I don’t bond with the upcoming stars on the team, much less get that fan thing going where you see a freshman receiver come in late in a blowout and light it up and go, wow, that kid is gonna be good next year! It just breaks the whole cycle of fandom, and all over the almighty $$.

Whatever. Change is the only constant. Forward we go.

Its hard to believe and if they get SDSU and other teams it will be an even smaller cut.

Longtime UW Husky fan and alum. Only a few more chances to beat up little brother (WSU) on a regular basis.

College sports is in shambles . . .

Well not in shambles but in transition. NIL was bound to happen sooner or later.
