Been working with the Brownell I got a few months back more lately. Seems to be coming around decently. Put together a few loads with some RL22 and it seems to like them.

Those were some factory 140 TTSXs I grabbed a few months back. Printed decent.

These were 145 LRXs

And here were the 120 TTSXs.

Going to try some 160 PTs next since I have a solid amount of 160 Bitterroots as well. May see if I can score some 160 Sierras as well since those make good bullets to work up loads with as well.

Not sure what’s going on with PB but it’s becoming a SOB to post pictures with.

Most of us gave up on PB a long time ago. Looks like good progress though. I think it prefers those 145 LRX's. Cool you are still using that old Leupold too. Thanks for posting!! Beautiful rifle buddy..

Many years ago one of Leonard’s relatives with whom I was hunting took my Dad and I out to the Brownell shop at his house. We were shown all around and saw some very nice guns and sculptures being worked on. Leonard passed shortly after our visit.

I’m going to try to refine something with the 145’s. I’ve got a pile of them and I think I should be able to get some decent speed from them.

BSA, the old Leupold ain’t bad, not great but it ain’t bad. I figured out PB as well. Just a pain to switch since I have years worth of pictures there.

Rolly, what a cool danged deal.

PF76, me too. It just seem to shoot and doesn’t care about not being floated or any of that business. Just works and looks decent to boot. Functions like you can’t imagine. Can’t wait to stretch it some.

Scotty, re the 145’s. I’ve been messing with a few different bullets at the range the last couple of days. I’ve settled on the LRX’s and RL 26. They are scooting along pretty good. I’ve shot a bunch of stuff with them in this rifle when it wore its Mashburn barrel 50 fps faster. It’s a great bullet on game near and far.

I happen to have plenty of RL26 so I’m going to try to copy your work Chuck. I also have plenty of the 145 LRXs and that’s about the limit of the 1-10 on this gun for bullet length. I’ll see if I can get a few loaded up. I used 22 just to try a few bullets as I had a bit left and that stuff has been magic in any 7 Rem I’ve ever had.

Great looking rifle! You should keep a lookout for a set of Leonard's detachable scope rings/bases if you aren't already. The would compliment the setup perfectly.

Those do sound pretty good. I am not a huge fan of the current mounts, but it is what it came with and everything is torqued down well, but I still don't fully trust them.

It's a dandy for sure. Bob would be very happy that Scotty is wringing it out.

Thanks for the load PF76.. It'll work..

I like easy stuff like that.

The only change was Peterson brass vs your ADG, but I used the rest to a T..

Fantastic! I have a bunch of Peterson brass sitting in the wings for when this ADG stuff wears out.

I shot this load out to 500 yards today in a pretty good wind. It was fairly impressive.

Since this gun doesn't have anything fancy for optics, it'll get the old 3" at 100 yard zero which should be on at about 300 and easily usable to 400 without too much guesswork. Maybe even 500 if I get my crap together and see where the thick part of the duplex hits..

Good luck wearing the ADG out Chuck. It's tougher than woodpecker lips. Hope the Peterson is close.

It is relatively easy to “bulletproof” those mounts. Actually they are among my favorites after doing this simple modification.
Remember they were designed in the pre-cnc days when outside dimensions of receivers were not consistent.
So use a scope that is centered optically. I have an ancient Weaver steel tube 4x that is used for this purpose. Mount in rings. Use bore collimator and adjust windage with rear screws. Tighten appropriately. Then remove scope and lap as usual. Reinstall scope and satisfy yourself that nothing has moved. THEN THE IMPORTANT STEP; have Kevin Weaver sink an 8-30 or 10-40 hardened screw down thru the bottom of the rear ring into the rear base which, with the windage screws it is now bombproof as well as centered. At the same time remove any part of the rear ring that covers the base holes so that you can tighten w/o ever disassembling the rear unit. Perfect!
If you are a wacknut, as am I, then have the front hit with a TIG from underneath.
