All well and good if you have lots of steam, but gramps was the engineer of a steam powered freight train back in the early 1900's and he didn't like to blow the whistle for the crossings. The whistle used too much steam that they could use for locomotion instead of just making noise. I guess gramps didn't have much respect for the cars on the road back in the day.
