Trying to book a room in Ann Arbor for Rutgers at Michigan game. Very few rooms available. What gives? I wouldn't think they have a huge fan base that "travels well." I thought this would be an off the radar game and could attend on the down low, relatively cheap. Last year I got fleeced. Payed almost 3x going rate for Penn State but I knew that was going to be the case, Penn State and all.

Would probably be a smaller crowd in Catpissaway.

UM has huge alumni numbers and an avid fan base here in Michigan. There are big updates going in @ The Big House right now too. Expectations are high in AA. Practically all the home games are sellout anyway. Just how things go on Game Day in AA. GO BLUE!!

Rutgers is the Alma Mater of my paternal grandfather. He went to college and law school at Rutgers and played football for them too. He went on and was admitted to argue before the SCOTUS. Rutgers is one that you never hear much about.

Oh yeah Natty I’m aware, thanks. Big expectations this year and new lights, new scoreboards. Last year for JJ, Corum, and Edwards. Count me in the avid fan base. My son will be starting his junior year in a few weeks. Men’s b ball and hockey are on the bucket list too. I’m about as far away from A2 and still be in Michigan. The drive is a grind for a weekend trip

I can’t speak for Big 18 (or whatever) conference schools, but at most SEC schools you need to book your hotel at least 8 months ahead and be prepared for silly prices and paying in full the moment you book. Even for the cupcake games

Not just at Ann Arbor. What used to be some college sports is now simply huge business.

I asked the boy, the only thing he said was it might be parent's weekend, it's not. The only thing I can up with is the hype and expectations for them this year has a lot of people jumping on the bandwagon. Oh well. I could pretend I'm in my 20s again and stay with my kid at their house and get little or no sleep on the couch. Not the end of the world. I'll check out some other games and see what the hotel situation is.

It will be a steam rolling by UM and probably Alum coming to the game to witness it.

The ticket holders likely all don’t live in the dorms.

I get that. My point was that in the past I did not have trouble finding a room even for a rivalry game, albeit an inflated price. Rutgers isn't exactly a football powerhouse and rooms are hard to find.

Rutgers is one that you never hear much about. Not trying to hijack the thread. A8, I’m in Philadelphia this weekend, son just bought a house here and we’re seeing it and helping paint and settle in. He starts his new job in a couple of weeks, teaching law at Rutgers Law in Camden. KC
