I have a 50 cal Dave Clements ROA conversion set up for the Mt. Baldy .488 cal. 250 gr. bullet. It also shoots 490 cal round lead balls, both projectiles set up with 777 powder

I don't think Mt Baldy is still in business, at least their web site isn't active. I'm looking for another company casting this same or very similar bullet. The gun does shoot the round ball very well; I just like the Mt Baldy bullet better.

Here's a thread about that gun, check out the link in the thread to Gunblast.com for technical info. Dave has retired, no longer does this work. This work was done 11-12 years ago. I haven't shot it much, was thinking about using it some. Would love to bust a hog or WT with it.

Why did Dave choose that diameter for a 50?

Good question.

He seemed to have focused some of the design around the Mt Baldy .488 cal 250 gr bullet, even enlarged the loading port to accommodate it. So chicken and egg on which came first, the conversion or the bullet.

And of course The .490 lead round ball is pretty common and also works.
