I have a pile of firing pin assemblies and they all look alike. I can't tell any differences. There should be post mil and premil firing pin assemblies mixed together in the parts. Without me having to take another rifle apart to validate an assembly as a late model post million firing pin assembly, are there noticeable differences that affect function between the two?

The only difference I know of is with the part of the hammer that engages with the sear. The post mil hammer is thinner and noticeably different. I thought I had pics of the 2 but can't locate them. It is pretty obvious when you compare the 2 though.

Lightfoot, thank you very much. You nailed it. Picked out the late model right away. I was fixated on the firing pin, not the hammer.
