Has anyone tried any current factory ammo in a 244 Remington? I know that Mule Deer and Mike Venturino have both written about the 1-12" twist being able to stabilize some 100 grain bullets. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck trying it.
If anyone has a lead on any 6mm Remington brass please let me know. Thanks.

It’s the length that you need to watch. Short, stubby 100 gr. bullets could work, long high BC ones, not so much.
Check out Hammer bullets. Expansive mono’s. Give them a call. They’ll know what you need. Not cheap, but worth the premium.
Edited to add, reload for optimal performance with the round.

Mine is a 14 twist so I am going to start with 75 grain vmax and go from there. Maybe there's an 80 grainer that will work for deer

6mm , 257 Roberts , 7mm Mauser are all very close to the same.

I wouldn’t sweat it. Get yourself some 85gr NPs or 90gr (and maybe 95gr) BTs, load them up, and go hunting. Some seem to like the 85gr Sierras as well.
Factory ammo of any sort, especially with stubby flat-based bullets, might be tough to find. Sooner you start looking, the better. Getting late!

Is it stamped 244 or 6 mm? I don’t think the 788 was chambered for the 244.
The 788 rifles in 6mm were rifled with a 9” twist which will work fine with 100 grain bullets.

In good shape, probably not a bad deal. Don’t those have 9 twist? DF

My 722 244 will put 3 100gr in 1" @100 yds. That's just fine for medium game within the 244's ethical kill zone.

IIRC(!), an article by Layne Simpson stated that his 1-14” Kimber 6x45 would shoot the old turned 85 NPs, but not the new ones. At any rate, a 1-12 should be fine, but a note to Nosler should clear up any doubt.
Another wrinkle is that the latter .244s made just before the name change already had the 1-9” barrels, so that’s something to check.

Missed out on a 788 6mm the other day for $399. I have two 700's already, both love the 95gr Partitions.
I was under the impression the stamped 244's had a 1-12 twist, my 700's stamped 6mm have a 1-9.25 (IIRC) twist in them. I haven't personally tried anything bigger than 100gr Factory Federal blue box or Core Lokts in either, never had the need/desire. I would think and have talked to a few that said it "should" stabilize up to 100's but my thought is 80-95 grainers were the ticket in the 1-12.
