Russia lost this more than a year ago.

The Ukraine army had air support at the beginning. They couldn't keep their Migs and Sukhois in the air, either from combat damage or lack of maintenance.

Eight F-16s is not much for air support. Ukraine has lost more Soviet-era fighters than that.

Not going to change anything on the field.

It's akin to giving the Germans 100 more tanks as the Soviet army is encircling Berlin.

With eight 40 year old F-16s half or more of them will be redlined most of the time. Even with the best maintenance available that would be the case.

Russia is losing equipment with no other countries making it up. Ukraine can make up equipment through all of its allies.

150 million Russians vs 38 or 39 million Ukrainians, Russia should have mopped up Ukraine in about 6 weeks, but they didn't. instead, Ukraine grows stronger, while Russia grows weaker.

You can post unverifiable stats until you're blue in the face.

The fact remains - Russia is currently occupying essentially all of the territory conquered last year, in spite of Ukraine's vaunted "counteroffensive".

Ukraine has a finite number of men that can be conscripted into the army. They are losing too many without gaining any ground.

That doesn't sound like victory to me.

That's not true. At the onset the Russians controlled Kherson, Kharkov and were knocking on the door of Kiev. They were totally routed on the Kharkov and Kiev axis and Kherson was retaken.
The Russian offensive capability is now gone so they have resorted to ww1 style trench warfare. The longer this drags on the weaker they become.

The Ukrainians need some decent air power to rout the Russians and push through the Russian defensive lines.
The good thing for the Ukrainians is that the Russians can't advance.

No doubt aviation assets will help. However, they will probably not gain air superiority and their affectiveness will greatly depend on how they are armed. The really need lots of anti radiation missles to start with.
