I'm surprised the model made it through the 1964 purge. But apparently it was discontinued in 1965

I would bet the cracked receivers of Model 59 shotguns were a combo of 1 1/2 oz. baby magnums and a weak action spring in an untimed action. I doubt many of the 59's around have been even deep cleaned let alone a new spring and re timed. With a good spring and proper timing Winchester approved them for all 2 3/4" loads.
