I'm considering one of these--does anyone have one.How is it?I think this is a pump gun right

Had one years ago, passed to me after a family member passed. Terrific rifle it is. Could not begin to quantify the number of pests it dispatched. It was quite fond of shorts and that is about all I ever shot with it. Belongs to a nephew at present.

The early Remington 500 series were great, accurate little rifles. Great fit and finish compared to Remington's later manufacturing. You can often find them for a good price.

Remington 572s are a great understudy to practice with if you hunt with a pump action rifle.

That was the first gun I bought with my own summer job money, back in 1975, when I was 14. I remember buying the Winchester Wildcat 22 ammo, for 99 cents a box of 50 back then.

I traded it to my younger brother before I joined the Marines in 1979.

Anyhoo, enough memory lane, it was a great rifle. Since I'm a southpaw, I really liked the pump action, and lefty boltguns were pretty much non-existant. Killed hundreds of ground squirrels and other pests with that gun.

Same here, first gun I bought with my own money, I think it was ‘73 or ‘74. Shot a lot Winchester wildcats too. That gun got a lot of hard use, all the original finish was worn off the anodized receiver, still have it.
Also, a brick of wildcats was $10, and it had to last me all summer.

Good stuff.

My father has one. I functions fine and is pretty accurate. I shot it a few times, but I prefer my Winchester pumps.

I have had two Pre 68 deluxe models and a post 68 plain.
Both of the old BDL (orwhatever they called em) were low comb stocks, so weren't the best for scope usage.
Both shot pretty good and one really liked the Rem CB shorts (when ya could buy those by the brick).
The plain post 68 was worn and shot poorly (exterior nice, barrel fugged).

I have a pre 68 receiver thats not bad (dad had parts for smithing).
Proly too much $ to build it up.

They are cool little rigs but IMHO todays market has them not worth the $.

My son has a 572 I bought for him in the 90s when he was growing up. It's a very nice rifle still in good shape and shoots quite well.

A good rimfire pump rifle, we've had 3 made from the early 60s to early 90's all have been good guns, no complaints.

I have a 572 from the 1960’s , bought about 7 years ago from a neighbor and it was new in the box, they are a really neat and great shooters.

I really like my 572 BDL from about 1981 I think. Really fun to shoot and eats everything from CB shorts to high velocity.

I bought mine in circa 1960-62 ( can't recall exactly.. Finally sold it around 2015. And I ran a LOT of 22lr ammo down the barrel.. It still worked fine and the new owner was very happy to get it.. IMHO, those are very good little rifles..

As others have stated it was the first gun I bought with my own hard earned money. A family friend helped me with the selection process. When it was my little brother's turn for a first gun he got one as well. Sadly I now have his and gave mine to another brother.

I've got one that belonged to my Grand father. The barrel is lose in the receiver. Wobbles from side to side. Never have figured out how to tighten it up

Picked this one up a month or two ago from a local pawn shop. Swapped out the bushnell for an older gloss Burris. It does fine with the irons too but I prefer a scope on a squirrel rifle. Great guns , if you're used to the centerfire 760/ 7600s or even the 870 pump shotgun these are great. Does an inch or so at 75 yards with mini mag HP

I normally only buy Rem early 22 bolts by that is a nice Rem pump gun. Deserves an old Burris.:-)

Thanks. I'm a big 760 /7600 fan as well as a decent collection of 870s. These 572s just feel right and the gloss Burris looks good on it
