Anheuser-Busch heir offers to buy back struggling beermaker: ‘We’ll make that brand great again’

The heir to Anheuser-Busch recently offered to buy back his family’s company in an effort to “make that brand great again.”

In 2008, Billy Busch’s family sold Anheuser-Busch to InBev. Now, Busch is hoping to buy back the beermaker that continues to struggle amid a months-long conservative boycott triggered by the company’s ill-fated partnership with a transgender influencer.

“What made this company great was America. When you are a foreign company and you rely on these woke students that are coming out of these woke colleges to do your advertising for you, you’re making a big mistake.”

How many successful family businesses have been destroyed by very high paid "professional" business managers from of the likes of McKinsey, Harvard, etc?

That was a questionable deal when they sold to InBev. I hope it goes thru for the family.

Too late now, they quit selling it in the dancehall. Nobody is buying it.

Anybody else remember when AMF (a bowling machine company) owned Harley Davidson? That just about put them under until the original family brought it back from the graveyard.

No real damage, to the stock. Its fine. Bud Light has lost huge Market Share, but other InBev products have picked up the slack, so the stock is fine.

Diversification works both ways.

Damage done is good for a Busch buyback. Means the purchase price will be low. It’s honestly about the only way for the brand to turn around at this point.

And they still are overweight, under-powered and over-priced.

I would offer maybe as much as $20 for the company.

Think it was Billy Busch that made the buyback comment & added that the family, my words, respected & understood their customers & it would return to that. Yada yada.

Go on that and many past customers, not all but many would be back in an instant.

Diversification works both ways.

The brands people don't know are InBev and their micro brews, I agree. But with Bud Light dropping in sales by 28%, Budweiser by 16%, Busch by 12%, and Michelob Ultra by 10% I'd say the old Budweiser brands are hurting.

Well, I know not where you got your numbers, but, they don't seem to match Quarterly's. For last Quarter, they showed AB's ( Not InBev) revenues UP 7%. If the big 4 are down by double digits as you state, someone is drinking a sh i t load of Natty's to take up the slack and book 7% over that.

Exactly... a rebranding by a VERY UNWOKE COMPANY... (even with the same nasty swill product) has HUGE LEGS.

In theory... If DJT bought Bud and made it... MAGA-wiser...

The hundreds of millions in profits that would result would "REBRAND Bud Light"

This is a Duhh moment for many.

The offer was ONLY for the Bud Light Brand. Not all of AB. There was some poor info from OP and it began to snowball.
