I have a Sweet 16 manufactured in 1951 that was my grandfather's; 26" improved and 28" modified but I don't think I can bring myself to part with it. I have never even shot the 28" barrel.

Apologies for highjacking your thread but can anyone clarify the difference between a sweet sixteen and the standard 16? I have a Belgian 16 with a matte ribbed barrel ( non vented). I thought the center barrel was a primary difference.

I thought the center barrel was a primary difference. A Sweet Sixteen barrel will either have a vent rib or a plain barrel that the top is matted. It will also have 3 holes drilled in the barrel ring that attaches to the magazine. The early Unmarked Sweets had 5 holes.

Great information here, after doing some research my Grandfather's gun appears to be the standard A5 16 ga with the safety in the front of the trigger. I had never researched it because that what he called it and had no reason to but a lot of interesting information out there if have time to sit down and read it. Good luck finding the barrel you wanting.
