... seems to work well. After having moved down here, I adapted to the local way of hunting deer. Last year, I set up a ladder stand and a feeder on the property of a friend who invited me to do so. At the time I bought the feeder, I also bought a solar panel for it. Moultrie said, in their directions, that the solar panel wouldn't keep the battery completely charged, but it would extend significantly the time between having to take it out and charge it. I thought I might have to get two batteries in order to keep it working all the time. I set the thing up last year about this time and kept it going, three times a day, all through deer season which, here, is August 15 through the end of the year. The battery kept working all the way through, so I was glad I didn't spend the money on an extra battery. I planned to take it down and bring it home for off season storage, but the first thing you know, it's deer season again. I went out today to check it out and the battery still showed a full charge. I hit the test button, and the spreader worked flawlessly. The thing has been sitting out there, unattended for about a year. I would say it's a pretty fair piece of equipment.

For as little as the motor operates, the panels can keep them charged.

I started using feeders in Texas in 84, a lot of people around Dallas hand made and custom fit barrel feeders, all those old men were gone along time ago, Moultrie was starting in a little shed in his back yard, his stuff has always been on the inexpensive side and pretty good quality, I still use them.

Hanco, those are excellent feeders you build, you have seen a lot of examples over the years, I still have 14 different ones going, and most are twenty years or older.

Batteries don't last fo chit, up here, in the cold.

Thank you, most tripod feeders are cheap built with cheap winches. I’ve made a bunch of those, 24 for a guy last year. It gives me something to do.

Cranks are by far the best for old men that have no help filling, I bought 10 capsules 13 years ago, there pretty much hog proof but parts break a lot, winch feeders are still the best.
